Ok this is not really a paella it’s just my version of it. It is really easy to make though and very tasty.


  • 1tbs olive oil
  • 1 onion
  • 100g pack of chorizo sausage, chopped
  • 2 tsp turmeric
  • 300g long grain rice
  • 1lt chicken stock
  • 200g frozen peas
  • 200g prawns
  • 200g cooked chicken pieces


  • heat oil in the pan and soften the onion without browning for about 5 minutes
  • add the chorizo sausage and fry for a little while as the juices are released
  • stir in the turmeric
  • stir in the rice and coat with juices
  • add the stock and bring to the boil
  • simmer for 15 minutes stirring occasionally
  • tip in peas and cooked chicken and cook for 5 more minutes
  • stir in the prawns and heat through for 1-2 minutes until rice is cooked
  • serve immediately with lemon wedges

My family love this dish it’s a tea time favourite.
